Salvation Sequence News

Post by chitman13 » Fri Sep 22, 2017 11:23 am

Peter's next trilogy will be the Salvation Sequence, and based on a post on Facebook it looks like they'll be called Salvation, Salvation Lost, The Saint of Salvation. And now Peter's publisher, Pan Macmillan, have a page on their catalogue site for the first book. Early days yet, but looks like a shorter-than-normal novel with a release date of next September. Can't wait!

And the synopsis:

Book One in the Salvation Sequence, a dazzling space opera trilogy from master of the genre, Peter F. Hamilton
In the year 2204, an abandoned alien spaceship is discovered 90 light years from Earth, in an uninhabited star system. The ship is found to be carrying humans held in suspension - yet humans have never ventured this far out into space before. Faster-than-light travel is impossible - so how did they get here? A team of five specialists is sent to investigate. But each of them has their own agenda - and not all of them can be trusted. Does the real threat come from the spaceship, or from those who seek to learn its secrets . . . ?

An updated synopsis with some more details:

Book One in the Salvation Sequence, a dazzling space opera trilogy from master of the genre, Peter F. Hamilton

Know your enemy - or be defeated

AD 2204

An alien shipwreck is discovered on a planet at the very limits of human expansion - so Security Director Feriton Kayne selects a team to investigate. The ship's sinister cargo not only raises bewildering questions, but could also foreshadow humanity's extinction. It will be up to the team to bring back answers, and the consequences of this voyage will change everything.

Back on Earth, we can now make deserts bloom and extend lifespans indefinitely, so humanity seems invulnerable. We therefore welcomed the Olyix to Earth when they contacted us. They needed fuel for their pilgrimage across the galaxy - and in exchange they helped us advance our technology. But were the Olyix a blessing or a curse?

AD 50,000
Many lightyears from Earth, Dellian and his clan of genetically-engineered soldiers are raised with one goal. They must confront and destroy their ancient adversary. The enemy caused mankind to flee across the galaxy and they hunt us still. If they aren't stopped, we will be wiped out - and we're running out of time.

Salvation is the first title in a stunning science fiction trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton

The Verge have got a nice little excerpt from Peter’s next novel up on their site along with the US cover. As there’s nothing official on the publishers website I’m not sure if this is the final cover, but the style is a little different from previous ones. Still, nice.

How do we know the Delian timeline is AD 50,000? Hamilton gives a date after contact or something. I was assuming it was like 500 years in the future, not 50,000. Where does he write it's 50,000?

It was in an initial synopsis for the book, but changed to 'the far future' in subsequent ones.
